Dr. Avijit Mitra is a Mayo Clinic–trained psychiatrist and Yale fellowship graduate specializing in adult, child, and adolescent psychiatry. With more than two decades of clinical and academic experience, Dr. Mitra integrates evidence-based medicine with empathy and collaboration to help patients achieve long-term mental wellness. He completed his Master’s in Neuroscience at Rutgers University, followed by medical training at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, Columbia University. After his Adult Psychiatry Residency at the Mayo Clinic, he pursued a Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Yale University’s Child Study Center, where he also earned the AACAP Award for excellence. Dr. Mitra served as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Yale University (2003–2008) and currently practices as an Attending Psychiatrist at the Department of Mental Health, alongside maintaining a thriving private practice. His approach emphasizes collaboration between families, schools, and healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive, individualized treatment.
